Freeform Labs develops apps and games for virtual reality, with its flagship experience ElemenTerra — a social VR world-building puzzle game where players act as god-like deities to rebuild planets. The studio was incubated through USC programs and has received recognition from IndieCade and The Proto Awards. Starbreeze has invested $750,000 to finance ElemenTerra's development; under the deal Starbreeze and Freeform Labs will each own 50% of the intellectual property and Starbreeze will receive 50% of royalties for the game’s lifetime. The founding team (Max Pittsley, Camille Kanengiser and Ian Donahue) will set up part of their operations in Starbreeze’s Los Angeles offices. Release timing, platforms and pricing for ElemenTerra will be announced at a later date.
