Overview

STOAF, is a business angel fund that focuses on early stage investments with home run potentials in the greater Stockholm area and adjacent provinces. STOAF invests in ventures who want an active skills intervention. STOAF started in 2008. It has today close to twenty partners and has made seven investments so far. The ventures are primary within the ICT and medical technology areas.

  • Aligned Bio

    Aligned Bio has developed a nanowire-based sensing platform designed to detect individual molecules with high sensitivity, with claims of read lengths of more than 1,000 bases using sequencing-by-synthesis reagents and up to 200x higher immunoassay sensitivity than conventional approaches. The technology originates from research at Lund University and Chalmers University of Technology and is designed for integration with industry-standard laboratory equipment and workflows. Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Lund, the company is transitioning from research to commercialization and plans to engage partners in the sequencing and proteomics industries. Recent financing of $3.6 million led by LMK will be used to scale nanowire consumable manufacturing and support commercial expansion. Pete Corish joined as CEO in June to lead commercialization efforts and partner discussions over the next six to twelve months. The company positions its platform as offering potential cost reductions and performance improvements for diagnostics, sequencing and proteomics applications.

    Polar Light Technologies AB is a Swedish semiconductor innovator focused on next-generation MicroLED displays built on a proprietary pyramidal structure that enables full RGB emission on a single epi-wafer without etching. This architecture delivers exceptional brightness and energy efficiency and serves as a foundation for sub-MicroLED innovations. In May 2025 the company unveiled its first MicroLED display prototype and later showcased updated versions at Display Week and MicroLED Connect. The firm’s initial commercial targets are small, purpose-built head-up displays, followed by applications in smart glasses and wearables. Headquartered in Linköping, Sweden, Polar Light positions itself as a leader in making MicroLED displays easier to produce and integrate. The business has now raised €13 million in total funding, including the €5 million+ round announced in January 2026, which provides runway for its upcoming product launches.

    AlixLabs develops Atomic Layer Etching (ALE) hardware and chemical process solutions for semiconductor manufacturing, operating at atomic-level precision. Its technology supports standard 300mm silicon wafers as well as GaN wafers used in fast chargers and electric vehicles. The company emphasizes cost reduction by lowering the number of complex lithography steps, sustainability through reduced power and water usage versus multi-patterning, and high precision. After raising €15M in a Series A, AlixLabs plans to accelerate product development, expand technical capabilities, and strengthen partnerships with semiconductor manufacturers. The company is based in Lund, Sweden. No operating metrics or revenue figures were disclosed in the announcement.

    Embedl builds AI inference optimisation tools that enable developers to deploy CNNs, transformers and other models directly on edge hardware. Its core offerings include a Model Optimization SDK that prunes, quantises, and compresses models, plus visualization tools and a modular architecture for hardware-aware optimisation and cross-platform deployment. The company serves defence, automotive, and robotics clients and has supported customers such as Bosch and Kodiak Robotics. Embedl’s technology can reduce energy use by up to 83% and halve hardware costs through efficient model optimisation, addressing rising inference costs and demand for low-power, real-time on-device AI. A spinoff from Chalmers University of Technology that began commercial operations in 2022, Embedl plans to accelerate commercialisation and launch its SaaS platform, Embedl Hub, with the new funding.

  • SweGaN

    SweGaN develops and manufactures GaN-on-SiC epitaxial wafers for wide-bandgap semiconductor applications. The company serves markets including RF and power electronics for 5G, satellite communications, telecom infrastructure, defence radar systems and high-efficiency power conversion in data centres. SweGaN plans to use the new funding to expand production capacity, accelerate R&D of next-generation GaN-on-SiC materials, and strengthen its commercial presence globally. Management stated the financing represents an up-round and will support hiring and infrastructure investment as the company scales. The round increases SweGaN’s total funding to $41M, reflecting recent commercial progress and investor confidence.
