Bitcoin Suisse, founded in 2013 and headquartered in Zug, provides trading, prime brokerage, custody, lending, staking, tokenisation and other crypto-finance services to private, institutional and corporate clients. The company employs a 145-person team and also operates offices in Copenhagen and Vaduz, Lichtenstein. It reports CHF 54 million in capital gathered through retained earnings but says this is insufficient to fuel planned growth. Leadership has begun the process to become a Swiss bank (banking license process started in October 2019) and aims to significantly increase equity to support on-balance client deposits and collateralized lending. Management says company equity solidly above CHF 100 million would provide a strong and profitable balance sheet to accelerate growth. With new funding the company also hopes to secure cross-border licenses.
