Cloud Sherpas operates as a cloud brokerage and services provider, focusing on reselling and integrating Google Apps and Salesforce.com and developing extensions and business-process IP. The company grows via acquisitions and product extensions—its eighth acquisition, Cloudtrigger, adds geospatial capabilities on top of Salesforce.com Service Cloud. Cloud Sherpas was formed via a merger with New York-based GlobalOne earlier this year. The business is people-intensive, with roughly 350 employees and plans to expand north of 500 in the next year. Management says it will continue to develop and acquire IP and pursue new markets where cloud channel partners are sought. The company has raised a total of $62.6 million to date. Cloud Sherpas merged with New York‑based GlobalOne and operates as an enterprise-focused cloud service provider. The company has nearly 300 employees across offices in Atlanta, Brisbane, Chicago, Manila, New York, San Francisco, Sydney and Wellington. Its offerings include CRM, social business services, custom and mobile application development, managed services, and it is a Google Enterprise and salesforce.com partner. Following the merger, David Northington (former GlobalOne CEO) became CEO of Cloud Sherpas while former Cloud Sherpas CEO Douglas Shepard became president of the company’s Google business unit. The company intends to use new capital to extend its geographic reach, further develop vertical market solutions, and expand its portfolio of cloud-based applications. The articles report the company received a $20M investment from Columbia Capital. Cloud Sherpas provides migration and management services for Google Apps and offers complementary Sherpa Tools to extend the suite's functionality. Sherpa Tools include features such as Directory Manager for in-depth user, shared contact and group profile management, bulk import/export of contacts, and added instant messaging capabilities. The company says implementations range from 75 to 75,000 users, with average deployments around 2,000 seats. Since launch, Cloud Sherpas has migrated over 600,000 enterprise users to Google Apps, and its software is in use at over 7,000 companies representing more than 1.5 million Google Apps users. The startup recently raised additional capital and plans to use the funds to accelerate Google Apps adoption across retail, manufacturing, high-tech, real estate, healthcare and government industries.
