Crisis Text Line is a NYC-based not-for-profit that provides free, 24/7 crisis support via text; anyone in the U.S. can text 741741 to receive a rapid response from a live, trained Crisis Counselor. The organization currently has a community of over 1,500 volunteer Crisis Counselors and plans to grow that community to more than 4,000 within two years. It has partnerships to extend reach, including an integration with YouTube's Crisis One Box and a direct link in the teen app After School, and has piloted tailored solutions to allow other organizations and locations to use its technology platform. Led by founder and CEO Nancy Lublin, Crisis Text Line raised $23.8M in a Series B round and intends to use the funds to scale rapidly. The service is technology-driven and focused on expanding capacity and distribution through partnerships and platform pilots.
