Participated · Series B · Oct 2018
Treasure8 emerged from stealth with fruit and vegetable chips produced using a patented infrared dry-blanching (IDB) process that blanches and dehydrates without water or steam. The IDB process (branded SAUNA) is described as low-energy, preserving color, flavor and micronutrients while disabling enzymatic activity that promotes rotting. Initial consumer products include Ground Rules organic beet, apple and sweet potato chips and TC's Bakehouse cookie thins that contain 25% vegetables. The company’s business model is multi-pronged: creating and incubating CPG brands that can be spun off, selling or leasing SAUNA machines, co-manufacturing products and ingredients, and forming supply-chain partnerships. Treasure8 is focused on converting infield waste and post-production streams into high-value ingredients (powders, dices, whole pieces) and claims applicability across many crops. Financially, the company has raised $9m to date and is now raising $20m in a Series B with a $2m convertible-note front end.
