The company currently sells products in 41 countries and licenses its technology to major industry players including Rotel, Chord and Wyred4Sound, and plans to sign deals with TEAC, Rega and other manufacturers. Founded in 2007 by Fernando Marco Manunta and Nadia Marino, M2Tech is based in Pisa, Italy. The company recently raised €500k from Toscana Innovazione. It intends to use the funds to advance R&D, complete and launch new products, and consolidate its position in international markets.

Ecopol develops and manufactures water-soluble and biodegradable films used in unit-dose delivery systems. Its products serve laundry and other unit-dose applications and are designed to help leading brands reduce CO2 emissions and the use of water and virgin plastics in their supply chains. The company operates production campuses in Italy and the United States, including a new production facility in Griffin, Georgia, and added a cast polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) film line to serve laundry applications. Since 2019 Ecopol has invested over €70 million to add capacity and capabilities. The company says it will use the new investment to support growth and expand its production footprint into the U.S. SK Capital is investing in the company; the amount was not disclosed. Ecopol S.p.A., based in Capannori (Lucca), Italy, produces and commercializes water-soluble and biodegradable products. Founded in 2009 and led by President Professor Emo Chiellini, the company holds patents for Hydrolene®, an industrial invention that enables production of water-soluble and biodegradable plastics in pellets, film and glue. Hydrolene® is used in the building, textile, oil and medical industries and in packaging for pesticides, detergents, colorants and embroidery—sectors where primary packaging comes in contact with water. The company received a €500,000 venture capital investment from Toscana Innovazione, which acquired a 30% stake. Toscana Innovazione is a €44m venture capital fund managed by S.I.C.I., and the financing provides equity capital and a new institutional shareholder.

Montalbano Technology S.p.A. is a Pistoia, Italy-based company that develops devices for monitoring the exposure of perishable products and industrial materials. It offers tags based on a micro-computer with sensors and a radio-frequency interface designed to monitor exposure to environmental factors such as heat. The company received a €2m investment from Toscana Innovazione, the Tuscany Region-backed venture capital fund managed by SICI – Sviluppo Imprese Centro Italia and FidiToscana. The investment was made through equity and the subscription of a convertible bond. The financing will allow SICI and FidiToscana to take a 24% stake in the company.
