SyndicateRoom is a U.K. equity crowdfunding platform that facilitates equity investment for retail and institutional investors. It aims to support companies across their equity journey, from idea stage through to IPO. Earlier this year the company became a member of the London Stock Exchange, enabling platform users to participate in IPOs and placings. SyndicateRoom says it is the first platform of its kind to enter the public markets, offering individual investors access to new equity issues on the same terms as institutions. The company used its own platform to complete a £3.1 million ($4.5 million) Series A that dramatically overshot a $3.35 million target at a $36.5 million valuation in under 10 hours; Unicorn AIM VCT committed $1.4 million as the largest investor. About a year earlier SyndicateRoom raised roughly $1.75 million in an angel round.
