Jukedeck offers an AI composer that generates custom, royalty-free soundtracks on demand via its cloud-based MAKE tool. Users select mood, style, tempo and length and receive a unique track in 10–30 seconds. The service is free for the first five songs monthly, then $7 per track for individuals and $15 for larger businesses, with an option to buy exclusive copyright for $150. The company emerged from private beta with clients including Google, the Natural History Museum and the English royal family and is run by a 12-person team. Jukedeck plans to add more musical styles, expand customization options, and license its technology to platforms like Facebook and YouTube. Longer-term, the founders envision personalized music for ads and physical spaces tuned on the fly. Jukedeck develops software that allows users to generate original music for videos, online games and many other applications where real-time, responsive music is desired without copyright limitations. The product targets creators who need on-demand, royalty-free music for video and interactive content. Jukedeck is a spin-out from the University of Cambridge and is based in London, UK. It is led by musician Ed Rex. The company raised £500k in funding and intends to use the funds to grow operations. Backers include Cambridge Enterprise, the University EIS Fund managed by Parkwalk Advisors, and Cambridge Innovation Capital.
