WattAnyWhere develops cutting-edge fuel cell technology aimed at providing sustainable, efficient off-grid power. The company plans to accelerate R&D and transition its generator technology from lab prototypes to real-world applications. It recently secured a €400,000 loan from Banque Publique d'Investissement under the Prêt Innovation R&D (PIRD) program to support product development. WattAnyWhere is leveraging the funding to speed commercialization and expand its presence in France. The startup has a partnership with French supermarket E.Leclerc Valdahon to evaluate and optimize energy consumption, with a subsequent phase planned for live on-site demonstrations of its generators. CEO Didier Roux said the funding is crucial for bringing the company’s innovations to market faster. WattAnyWhere develops a mobile generator that uses solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) to convert pure renewable ethanol into electricity, delivering silent, low-emission power with zero nitrogen oxides. The generator is roughly the size of a parking space, can be fully functional in any location in about a month, and can ultra-fast charge 3,000 EVs using 30m3 of ethanol. The company has signed strategic contracts with early adopters in the oil & gas and retail industries, validating its product-market fit. Since launching in 2021, WattAnyWhere has raised nearly CHF 5 million in total funding inclusive of equity, grants, and loans. The startup closed a CHF 2.2M seed round and counts a diverse group of investors across ten countries among its backers. WattAnyWhere plans to pursue a Series A in 2025 to support its next growth phase.
