    Eyes and More is a Dutch optical chain founded in 2005 by Ad Mathijssen and Eric Ezendam, each with about 20 years of optical-sector experience. The company offers a choice of 1,500 fashionable frames at a single fixed low price, including scratch-resistant, extra-thin and super non-reflective lenses. It has grown into a network of 27 stores in the Netherlands and 39 franchise stores in Germany, all located in city centres. The group employs 292 people. In 2009 the company recorded consumer sales of €16m. The recent investment is intended to support Eyes and More’s growth plan.

    ZEB is a Belgium-based retail chain that operates 21 stores in Flanders and employs 142 people. The company secured €7.6m in equity financing from Vendis Capital. The capital will be used to fund future expansion. Vendis Capital is a private equity fund launched in 2009 by the former management of retail holding Mitiska. The Vendis fund had a €55m first closing last October and is still raising capital to reach a €100m final target. The financing positions ZEB to pursue its growth plans within the Belgian retail market.
