Zehus develops sustainable urban mobility solutions, centered on its patented BIKE+ mobility block that powers hybrid (human-electric) e-bikes which do not need to be recharged and can reduce rider fatigue by up to 40%. The company was founded in 2013 as a spin-off of the Department of Electronics of the Politecnico of Milan and is based in Milan, Italy. Zehus aims to bring innovation to the urban mobility sector through its BIKE+ technology and related solutions. It intends to use the latest funding to advance those solutions. The company raised €1.5m in the most recent funding round. To date Zehus has raised nearly €3m in equity funding and has also been awarded a €2.4m Horizon 2020 grant from the European Commission. Zehus, founded in 2013 and based in Milan, develops an electric powertrain sold as a comprehensive rear-wheel block that converts conventional bicycles into e-bikes. The block combines a battery, motor and sensors and features human-propelled recharge. Its Bike+ product offers Bluetooth connectivity and an iOS/Android app to select power mode, manage trip data and lock the bike. The smartphone can act as a gateway to the Zehus community, enabling online diagnosis, bike-oriented navigation, mobility statistics and social features such as finding a stolen bike. The company plans to use €2.4M from the EU Horizon2020 program to continue developing its cloud and mobile bike-sharing program. Zehus is led by CEO Marcello Segato and CMO Giovanni Alli, reported €1.1M revenue in 2015 and is backed by Invitalia Ventures, Vittoria Industries and M31 with a stated plan to reach €47M turnover by 2022. Zehus develops integrated hardware and software for electric bicycles. Its core product, Bike+, is a tech block that combines a battery, an engine and sensors in the rear wheel to enable electric bicycles with no charging needs. Bike+ provides Bluetooth connectivity and companion iOS and Android apps that let users select power modes, manage trip data and lock the bike. The smartphone can act as a gateway to the Zehus community, enabling online diagnosis, bike-oriented navigation, mobility stats and social functions such as locating a stolen bike. Zehus is a spin-off of Politecnico di Milano, was incubated within M31 and is led by CEO Marcello Segato. The company raised €1.5m in venture capital from investors including Invitalia Ventures (via Fondo Italia Venture I) and Vittoria Industries.
