Overview

Wasserstein & Co. is an independent private equity and investment firm, with offices in New York and Los Angeles. The firm was formed in January 2001, when the merchant banking group of Wasserstein Perella & Co., Inc., a global investment banking firm, spun out to become an independent firm upon the acquisition of Wasserstein Perella by Dresdner Bank. The firm manages capital on behalf of the Wasserstein family and leading institutional and individual investors, including public and corporate pension funds, foreign governmental entities, endowments and foundations and high net worth families. Their investment activities are currently conducted through two entities: Wasserstein Partners, which focuses on mid-market leveraged buyout investments, and Wasserstein Debt Opportunities, which focuses on high yield bonds and leveraged loans. The Firm is managed by the Senior Partners, Anup Bagaria, Robert Fogelson, Ellis Jones, and George Majoros, who have worked together for over 20 years.

Honor has partnered with leading universities (including Wharton, Northeastern, and University of Miami) and enterprise and nonprofit customers such as Netflix, Moderna, Pinterest, ACHE, Propel, and AltFinance. The company reports over 700,000 learner sessions to date, learner engagement three to five times daily, and course completion rates averaging 85% versus an industry average of 15%. Honor was founded in 2021, launched its platform in 2023, and was named one of TIME’s Best Inventions of 2024. The company plans to use new capital to expand AI capabilities, enhance personalization, and grow operations and customer-success teams to support rising demand.

The company operates the largest national telehealth SUD service with counselors licensed in 47 states and is accredited by the Joint Commission. Lionrock accepts most private health insurance and reports it has helped thousands of people find recovery through live video care. The company hosts free support groups and has seen attendance in some groups more than triple during the COVID-19 period. Leadership highlights that 85% of its clients are employed and about half would not have sought help without an online option. Planned priorities include scaling staff, expanding marketing, enhancing proprietary practice-management systems, and broadening clinical offerings.
