Vylo is a news-aggregation and video-driven social platform that lets users record short video or audio responses to curated news items. The app surfaces a home feed of stories from major publications and places a recording option beneath each article for quick two-minute takes. A Trending tab ranks comments by “insightfulness,” and users can build personalized “Newsstands” by following outlets and topics. Comments are vetted by third-party moderator Hive before going live. Vylo launched a public beta a few weeks before the article and had drawn over 500 users. The product is developed by a distributed team in the U.S., the Netherlands and Ukraine. Monetization isn’t imminent; the company is considering ad-free subscriptions, revenue-sharing with creators, and helping paywalled publications drive subscriptions.
