Zunder operates a proprietary fast-charging network and a platform that lets electric-vehicle users plan trips and access a broad associated charging network without extra registrations. The company, originating in Palencia and with an office in Barcelona, has positioned itself as a national reference in EV charging. It has secured a €225 million loan from Banco Santander via Santander Corporate & Investment Banking to finance expansion. The funding is intended to support a plan to deploy roughly 3,000 charging points across Europe, with emphasis on Spain, France, Italy and Portugal. This is Zunder’s fifth financing operation following prior rounds, crowdfunding and agreements with the European Commission. Those earlier financing activities totaled more than €140 million, underscoring institutional and investor confidence in the business. Zunder is a Spanish operator of "ultra-fast" electric-vehicle charging infrastructure headquartered in Palencia, Castile and León. The company plans to build and operate 4,000 ultra-fast EV charging stations in Spain and other parts of southern Europe and expects to have 4,000 charging points under management by 2025, with its platform ultimately managing 40,000 chargers. Zunder was founded in 2017 and recently closed a €100 million investment from asset manager Mirova. It also secured a €40 million loan from the European Investment Bank through the Future Mobility instrument under the Connecting Europe Facility to deploy chargers along Spain's section of the trans‑European transport network (TEN‑T). Most EIB-funded chargers will be located in EU cohesion regions, and the project is expected to cut about 1 million tonnes of CO2 between 2023 and 2031. The EIB financing is intended to accelerate lead times and enable Zunder to pursue a greater number of projects; the company has already won its first public tender outside Spain in France. Zunder builds and operates ultra-fast EV charging stations and an industry-leading app to enable long-distance electric travel. Founded in 2017 by Daniel Pérez, the company develops in-house location selection technology and focuses on ultra-fast charging. It currently operates 150 charging points in Spain. Zunder plans to open its first charging points in France and expand into Portugal and Italy, targeting over 4,000 charging points by 2025 and management of more than 40,000 through its platform. The product and network are positioned to reduce range anxiety and support rapid EV adoption across Southern Europe. The company is pursuing an aggressive multi‑billion deployment plan over the next decade.
