Furaha is a Dubai, UAE–based provider of a financial services platform offering purpose-driven loans for African markets. It focuses on loans centered around education, gender and other responsible lending pillars and builds an ecosystem of data for credit scoring. Furaha enables commercial banks to channel credit toward education financing and has launched loan products in Uganda with partners Opportunity Bank, SchPay and MTN MoMo. The company is headquartered in Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and was co-founded by Yustus Aribariho and Ian Fernandes. Furaha raised $10M in funding, with SC Ventures investing $7M and Yabx BV contributing through technology transfer. It intends to use the funds to expand operations and its development efforts across local operating markets in Africa.
