Ocumeda offers a technology platform that integrates in-store optical measurements with remote evaluations by partner ophthalmologists, enabling convenient tele-ophthalmology services. The system currently powers the Zeiss EyeCare Network and links more than 700 optical stores and ophthalmologists in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and other markets. To date, the company has examined roughly 300,000 patients through its screening service. Ocumeda’s business model centers on providing an open, scalable resource for patients, opticians, optometrists and ophthalmologists. With strategic backing from both Fielmann Group (majority owner since 2023) and, now, Zeiss Vision Care, the company plans to widen its footprint across Europe before exploring opportunities in markets such as the U.S. and U.K. The latest transaction implies a €100 million valuation, giving Ocumeda significant financial credibility to pursue expansion. Management views the partnership with Zeiss as a catalyst to address the growing shortage of accessible eye care and to prevent vision loss for millions of people.
