21.co is the Switzerland-based parent of crypto ETP issuer 21Shares, founded in 2018 by Ophelia Snyder and Hany Rashwan. The firm offers crypto ETPs, broad token solutions and a decentralised software platform to create, list and manage ETPs globally. It said it will use new financing to drive rapid, targeted growth through first-of-their-kind products, key market expansions and strategic talent acquisitions. The company ran as much as $3bn in assets under management in November 2021. Headcount has increased by 75% since September 2021, with recent hires including Sherif El-Haddad, Oliver Schäfer and Marina Baudéan. Its valuation stands at $2bn following the latest fundraise. Amun Holdings is the parent of 21Shares, which launched the world’s first physically backed cryptocurrency ETP in 2018 on the SIX Swiss Exchange. As of May 2021, 21Shares manages more than $2 billion across 14 cryptocurrency ETPs, including the only ETPs tracking Binance, Bitcoin Cash, Tezos and recently Stellar, Cardano and Polkadot. The company emphasizes institutional-grade research and product development for the developing crypto asset class. Management says it is seeing unprecedented investor demand and plans to expand its ETP product suite globally this year. Hany Rashwan is cited as Co‑Founder and CEO, and Catherine Wood serves as an independent member of Amun’s board. The firm positions itself as a first mover and innovator in exchange-traded crypto products.
