Overview
ABSCINT is a clinical-stage molecular imaging company and VUB spin-off developing radiopharmaceutical diagnostics using single-domain antibodies for fast, whole-body visualization of molecular markers. The company has two clinical-stage programs: ABSCINT-HER2 for detecting HER2 cancers (including HER2-low and HER2-positive) and ABSCINT-206 for detecting cardiac sarcoidosis. Its technology is based on joint research from teams at VUB and the VIB-VUB Center for Inflammation Research. ABSCINT’s diagnostics are intended for disease diagnosis, treatment selection, and monitoring treatment response. The company announced a new financing that provides an additional €1.0M in capital. New and existing investors are positioned to support continued development of its two radiopharmaceutical programs. ABSCINT is developing single-domain antibody-based radiopharmaceutical diagnostics that enable rapid targeting and visualization of specific molecular markers across the whole body via PET scans. Its lead program, ABSCINT-HER2, is designed to map HER2 expression across cancer lesions and address tumour heterogeneity to improve selection for HER2-targeted therapies. The company has clinical-stage programs in both oncology and cardiovascular diseases. ABSCINT plans to initiate Phase II clinical trials for ABSCINT-HER2 to evaluate detection of HER2 heterogeneity in metastatic breast cancer. Financially, the company secured an additional €3 million from a syndicate of investors to support these clinical activities. Koen Dewaele will take the position of chairman of ABSCINT’s board and is joining as a private investor to support the company’s development.
