ActiTrexx GmbH

Langenbeckstr. 1, Building 401 c/o University Medical Center Mainz, Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz, Mainz, Rheinland-Pfalz, 55131, Germany

Overview

ActiTrexx GmbH is a biotech spin‑off from the University Medical Center Mainz developing ATreg, activated regulatory T cells stimulated via a proprietary, patent‑protected process and administered intravenously. The lead therapy is intended to prevent graft‑versus‑host disease (GvHD) in stem cell transplant recipients and to curb excessive immune responses in autoimmune diseases. Preclinical data showed ATreg can significantly attenuate existing GvHD and largely prevent its development when given early as a prophylactic treatment. The company plans to use the Series A proceeds to further optimize the cell therapy and advance it into clinical testing, with first trials for high‑risk leukemia patients after stem cell transplantation due to start in 2021 in cooperation with the III. Medical Clinic of University Medical Center Mainz. ActiTrexx is led by Prof. Andrea Tüttenberg and Dr. Helmut Jonuleit. The company will also receive additional launch funding from the GO‑Bio program of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and previously raised €4 million in 2016 via the GO‑Bio start‑up initiative.
