AcuSurgical, founded in 2020 and based in Montpellier, France, is developing a telemanipulated robotic platform for ocular microsurgery with an initial focus on vitreo‑retinal procedures. The platform is designed to filter surgeon tremor, augment visualization, and keep the surgeon in full control to increase precision and reproducibility of complex retinal surgeries. A proof of concept has been completed and a first prototype was validated in a preclinical setting. The company will use the Series A proceeds to conduct clinical trials and pursue regulatory approval for vitreo‑retinal indications, with plans to expand to additional ophthalmic applications thereafter. AcuSurgical cites a worldwide patient population of more than 300 million with retinal disease and notes 1.6 million retinal surgeries performed annually, representing a growing market.
