Adept Materials is commercializing a two‑material moisture‑management system and a paint-and-primer dehumidifying product line. Founder and CEO Derek Stein, a former Brown physics professor, designed a sponge layer that absorbs water vapor and an outward‑facing barrier that permits vapor flow while blocking air, functioning like a one‑way diode.
