Advano
2045 Lakeshore Drive, Ste 106, New Orleans, LA, 70122, United States
Overview
Advano emerged from stealth with a technology that upcycles scrap silicon waste from semiconductor and solar-panel manufacturing into a silicon solution called A-SiFx™ that boosts lithium‑ion battery energy density. By upcycling rather than performing conventional silicon processing, the company avoids toxic manufacturing steps, which it says protects the environment and its engineers. Advano has signed a strategic partnership with Japan-based Mitsui Kinzoku to leverage the partner’s manufacturing know-how and distribution channels. The company announced organizational changes alongside the funding: John S. Foster, Ph.D., a former Stanford applied physics faculty member, was appointed President and COO and relocated to New Orleans. Founded in 2016 and based in New Orleans, Advano aims to commercialize its silicon‑upcycling approach into battery supply chains. The company has not disclosed operating metrics in this announcement.
