Advertima Vision AG
Lerchenfeldstrasse 3, Sankt Gallen, Saint Gallen, 9014, Switzerland
Overview
Advertima’s core product is a computer-vision ML platform that uses visual sensors to create a “Human Data Layer” of real-time behavioral and demographic analytics for physical retail spaces, plus digital signage and cashierless checkout capabilities. The company emphasizes privacy features: it says there is no facial recognition or biometric detection, no image/video storage, and that anonymous, randomly generated tracking IDs are used and not linkable retrospectively. Advertima touts applications such as smart inventory management, autonomous checkout, contextual messaging on digital screens, and in-store analytics. The startup was founded in 2016 and has partnerships with Migros and SPAR; its system is deployed by 14 companies across eight countries. The Series A proceeds and additional internal funding will be used to further develop the platform and scale internationally. Advertima faces competition from large and specialist players in cashierless and in-store analytics (including Amazon licensing, AiFi, Grabango, Standard Cognition and Zippin) and cites COVID-driven demand dynamics for contact-reducing technologies. Advertima builds AI software that analyses and interprets the physical environment and triggers context-appropriate responses. The company, based in St. Gallen, presented a first prototype of its software in 2014. Migros has been a strategic partner since 2015. Advertima employs about 35 specialists and opened a Berlin office in January 2017 with eight staff. Following recognition such as being named "coolest startup" at the Worldwebforum and reaching the final of the Startfeld Diamant prize, the company completed a first Series A venture-capital round of 4.8 million CHF. The new funds are intended to drive growth, accelerate internationalization and advance the technology.
