Aerial Technologies, established in 2015 and based in Montreal, develops a cloud-based WiFi Motion Intelligence platform that detects and classifies human motions using artificial intelligence. Its patented, low-cost solution leverages existing wireless infrastructure and analyzes disruptions in Wi‑Fi signals to infer human activities without special hardware, wearables, installations, or invasive cameras. The company positions the technology for applications in security, energy management, and automation across residential and professional environments. Earlier this summer Aerial launched a passive, non-invasive Remote Care application aimed at expanding access to telecare. Yaletown Partners led Aerial’s financing round, and Shyam Gupta, a Yaletown partner, will join Aerial’s board of directors. Yaletown said it will support Aerial as it pursues its mission to become the wireless standard for smart motion detection. Aerial Technologies offers a cloud-based Wi‑Fi motion analytics SaaS that leverages existing wireless infrastructure and machine learning to extract actionable motion data without requiring extra hardware, wearables, or cameras. Its passive, contextual solutions aim to recognize users and background activity for customers across smart home, security, home care/healthcare, energy management, and hospitality sectors. The company positions its product as a low-cost way for ISPs, MSOs, healthcare players, security integrators, and smart device manufacturers to access new revenue streams and end-user actionable data. Aerial said it will use newly raised capital to accelerate the addition of market-requested functionalities and to further advance its IP portfolio. The company is recruiting talent in Engineering, R&D, Operations, sales, and customer support to expand its global reach. Aerial is headquartered in Canada with regional offices in the USA and Europe. Aerial Technologies builds cloud-based software that processes distortions in existing Wi‑Fi signals to recognize presence, movement, activity and identity using machine learning. Its technology, created by VP of Technology Michel Allegue, leverages IP from McGill University, Rutgers University and Stevens Institute of Technology. The software can be deployed on virtually any Wi‑Fi network device and does not require additional sensors or hardware. Initial commercial applications the company targets include presence recognition, home intrusion detection, HVAC energy optimization, health monitoring and elderly care, and smart-home motion indication. The company says its solution has been evaluated in pilot projects with major telecom operators and will be offered on existing Wi‑Fi networks without new infrastructure investment. Aerial aims to accelerate commercialization with large telecommunications partners following the financing.
