aevoloop

Markt 9, Leipzig, Sachsen, 04109, Germany

Overview

Founded in 2024 in Leipzig, aevoloop has created a patented chemistry that introduces selectively cleavable bonds into polyethylene and polypropylene chains, allowing the materials to be broken back down into virgin-grade monomers at end-of-life. The resulting plastics match the mechanical properties and processing profiles of conventional polyolefins, so they can run on existing extruders and injection-moulding lines without cost penalties. Because the polymers are also biodegradable, the platform targets both macro- and microplastic pollution. Initial application areas include packaging, films, injection-moulded parts and textiles, with the company aiming to scale toward industrial production and broaden use cases across the plastic value chain. aevoloop is collaborating with the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research, Leipzig University and the Center for the Transformation of Chemistry under the “Saxy Plastics” project to accelerate R&D and commercialization. The startup just secured about €8 million in fresh capital—€3.25 million in seed equity plus nearly €5 million in public co-funding—providing runway for pilot production and market launch activities.
