Algramo

Club Hípico 4676, Santiago, Región Metropolitana, 8460445, Chile

Overview

Algramo provides a reusable-container and refill-station platform that uses modified product labels with RFID tags and in-store dispensers so consumers can buy products at bulk prices without single-use packaging. The model removes packaging costs (about 30% of product cost, per CEO José Manuel Moller) and aims to be cheaper for low-income shoppers while reducing plastic waste. The company has focused on partnerships with major brands and retailers, with arrangements in place with Unilever, Nestlé, Colgate-Palmolive and Walmart Chile. Algramo validated the model in Chile—originally using dispenser-equipped vehicles but shifting to retail stations—and now has around 50,000 users repurchasing products in bulk. It sells frequently used items such as laundry soap, toiletries and dry dog food, and plans to pilot solutions for beverages later. The company owns several patents and is preparing international pilots in Jakarta, New York, Mexico and London as it expands globally.
