Overview
Allset began as an app for quick in-restaurant dining that lets users make reservations, order ahead and pay through the app, and it later added personalized, healthy recommendations at each restaurant. The company has expanded into takeout and recently launched a contactless takeout feature; it is waiving its 12% commission fee for restaurants offering contactless pickup and is promoting takeout with a daily $4 discount. Orders dropped roughly 60% as social distancing measures began, but have since rebounded about 10% as Allset signed up new partners, adding more than 200 restaurants in the past couple weeks, often in residential neighborhoods. Allset distinguishes itself from delivery apps by focusing on optimizing the takeout and quick-dining experience rather than building its own delivery logistics. The company says it may add delivery in the future but would likely partner with an existing delivery company rather than build logistics in-house. Allset’s core product is a mobile app that combines reservations with pre-ordering and payment so diners receive food within minutes of arrival and finish meals quickly. The company pitches that process as a way to eliminate typical restaurant wait times—targeting food delivery within five minutes and table turnover within about 30 minutes. CEO Stas Matviyenko says the system makes dining more predictable for time-constrained customers. Allset reports it works with more than 700 restaurants across nine cities, including San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles. The company positions the product to help full-service restaurants increase throughput and attract customers who otherwise avoid dining out when short on time. Allset frames its offering as bringing on-demand expectations to sit-down restaurants. Allset is a wait-free dine-in service that enables customers to book, order and pay for lunch before arrival. Launched in 2015 by Stas Matviyenko and based in San Francisco, the company focuses on improving the dine-in restaurant experience. Allset released a Facebook Messenger bot to allow diners to book, order and pay without downloading the app. The company also offers Allset for Business so local companies can provide company-paid lunches to clients and employees. It currently operates in San Francisco, Palo Alto and Manhattan, serving over 8,500 diners per month with more than 180 restaurant partners. The service is free for users; Allset earns 10% from each order charged to the restaurant. The company plans to expand into Los Angeles and Chicago and to invest in product research, development and marketing. Allset is a San Francisco-based mobile app that lets lunchtime diners book tables, pre-order food, and pre-pay bills. Led by CEO Stas Matviyenko, the company launched its app for free download on iOS and Android after testing at twelve restaurants in San Francisco and Palo Alto. Test partners included Arte Ristorante, Atlas Tap Room, Birba, Boulevard, Farmhouse Kitchen, Il Casaro, La Mar, Les Clos, Mochica, Prospect, The Lunchpad and The Monk’s Kettle. Beginning at launch, any restaurant in the United States is eligible to use the app for lunchtime reservations and pre-orders. Allset closed a $1.5M VC funding round with participation from SMRK VC Fund and private investor Alexandr Chernyak. The company intends to use the funds to expand operations.
