Overview
Aortyx develops next-generation medical devices focused on treating aortic dissection, notably a bioabsorbable patch designed to repair tears in the aorta. The company was founded in 2018 in Barcelona as a spinout from the Institut Químic de Sarrià (IQS) and Hospital Clínic, originating from the cofounders' academic work. Aortyx has a team of 21 employees and has accumulated multiple financing rounds prior to the current Series A (€650,000; €2.5 million; €13.8 million). The current Series A totals more than €15 million and includes a €1.5 million investment from Avançsa, which will hold 7.52% of the company. Aortyx intends to begin patient clinical trials in 2027–2028 and aims for market entry between 2029 and 2030. The company was recognized with the Premi Catalonia.health 2026 at La Nit de Catalonia.health.
