Founded in 2020 as a spin-off of Hospital Clínic Barcelona and IDIBAPS, Gyala Therapeutics is advancing novel cell therapies that address unmet needs in blood cancers. Its lead candidate, GYA01, is a first-in-class CAR-T targeting the CD84 protein, which is highly over-expressed in acute myeloid leukemia, T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia, and other hematologic malignancies. The company has received authorization from the Spanish Agency of Medicines and Medical Devices to begin a Phase I/IIa clinical trial of GYA01 at Hospital La Fe in Valencia and Hospital Clínic Barcelona. Gyala plans to use its newest capital to accelerate this trial, with Dr. Pau Montesinos and Dr. Jordi Esteve serving as principal investigators. To date, the biotech has secured €11 million in equity financing from Invivo Partners, Nara Capital, and CDTI Innvierte, supplemented by several Spanish innovation grants such as NEOTEC and Public-Private Collaboration Projects. The latest non-dilutive award brings total capital raised to roughly €14.7 million.

Aortyx develops next-generation medical devices focused on treating aortic dissection, notably a bioabsorbable patch designed to repair tears in the aorta. The company was founded in 2018 in Barcelona as a spinout from the Institut Químic de Sarrià (IQS) and Hospital Clínic, originating from the cofounders' academic work. Aortyx has a team of 21 employees and has accumulated multiple financing rounds prior to the current Series A (€650,000; €2.5 million; €13.8 million). The current Series A totals more than €15 million and includes a €1.5 million investment from Avançsa, which will hold 7.52% of the company. Aortyx intends to begin patient clinical trials in 2027–2028 and aims for market entry between 2029 and 2030. The company was recognized with the Premi Catalonia.health 2026 at La Nit de Catalonia.health.

MiMARK Diagnostics, a femtech spin-off from the Vall d’Hebron Research Institute, is developing an in vitro diagnostic test to improve the diagnosis of endometrial cancer using gynecological fluids as a non‑invasive biomarker source. The company’s first product is in the final prototyping stage and will move into verification and clinical validation with the new funding. MiMARK plans to accelerate clinical verification and validation and to expand R&D into additional gynecological indications, including a potential second indication for endometriosis. The company intends to strengthen collaborations with leading institutions, healthcare professionals and industry partners to advance its diagnostic platform. Financially, MiMARK closed a seed financing round totaling €4.22M that includes significant public support via the European Commission’s EIC Accelerator.
