Overview

Arbe develops a high-resolution 4D imaging radar chipset designed to detect, separate, identify and track hundreds of objects with high horizontal and vertical resolution and long range. The company says its chipset generates images 100 times more detailed than other solutions and can simultaneously localize and map the environment while mitigating mutual radar interference and reducing false alarms. Arbe plans to use new funding to hire more employees and to bring its radar systems into full production for Tier 1 suppliers. CEO Kobi Marenko said the company aims to enable Tier 1 automakers and OEMs to replace legacy chipsets and meet NCAP and ADAS safety requirements. Arbe already counts five Tier 1 customers — two in China and three in Europe — though it did not name the suppliers. The company also claims its radar can enable SAE Level 3 automation in passenger vehicles without requiring lidar. Arbe Robotics designs an ultra high-resolution 4D imaging radar that enables vehicles to sense the environment in any weather and lighting across long, mid and short ranges. Its radar, based on proprietary chipsets, detects cars, motorcycles, bikes and humans and is positioned as a next-generation safety product for ADAS and autonomous driving. The company intends to use the new funding to expedite product development for the autonomous-vehicle market and to expand its customer-facing operations in the U.S. and China. Arbe maintains business development and customer service locations in China and the United States. Founded in 2015 by CEO Kobi Marenko, the company is advancing its imaging radar technology toward commercial automotive applications. The product roadmap and go-to-market efforts are focused on integrating the radar into vehicle platforms and scaling customer deployments. Arbe develops an ultra-high-resolution radar and SLAM-based 4D imaging system aimed at automotive applications to detect and identify objects regardless of exterior conditions. The product combines an ultra high-resolution radar and Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) algorithms to improve target separation, enhance resolution, remove false alarms, and distinguish objects with roughly one-degree resolution. The company pivoted from a prior drone focus to prioritize road vehicles and has demonstrated its system to customers, showing the ability to differentiate people, trees, and motorcycles. Arbe plans five in-car trials in the U.S. with large partners within the next year or two and is in final stages of securing a manufacturing partner to mass-produce its chips. The recent financing is intended to finish the product, support additional tests, and establish a U.S. support center; the company describes itself as capital efficient. To date Arbe has raised $12M and says it is prepared to raise more when commercial deals beyond trials materialize, aiming for a higher valuation.
