The recent financing is intended to support production ramp-up, increased integration capability, and Europe-focused reindustrialisation of defence technologies. ARX Robotics has developed ARX Mithra OS, described as the world’s first independent AI-powered operating system for legacy vehicles, and builds high-performance unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) to digitise and autonomise land forces. Founded in 2022 in Munich by former Bundeswehr officers Marc Wietfeld, Maximilian Wied and Stefan Roebel, the company supplies UGVs to six European military forces and has deployed the largest Western-developed UGV fleet to Ukraine. ARX says its technology can retrofit over 50,000 NATO vehicles and operates with a fully European supply chain to maintain strategic sovereignty. The company has been contracted by the European Defence Agency and is expanding into the UK with a new headquarters, a planned production facility, and a strategic partnership with Daimler Truck. ARX positions its products to address the under-automation of land operations and strengthen European defence resilience. Financially, ARX has raised €31 million in the Series A and has total funding of over €40 million. ARX Robotics manufactures scalable robotic systems for mass deployment in defence and commercial applications. Its flagship GEREON unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) series is modular and can be outfitted for live-fire training, transport and medical evacuation, reconnaissance sensors, and other payloads. The company emphasizes modularity and add-on payload solutions to enable a wide variety of mission-specific use cases. GEREON robots are already in service and tested with several European armies, including Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Hungary and Ukraine, and battlefield experiences are incorporated into development cycles. The new €9M seed funding will be used to expand the team and scale production capabilities across Europe. ARX says it will scale production, generate software-defined systems, and develop adaptive hardware to support mass-deployable autonomous unmanned systems and contribute to European technological sovereignty. ARX builds autonomous Single-to-Multi-Use unmanned ground systems designed for both military and civilian first-responder use. Its unarmed GEREON ground robots incorporate sensors, cameras, alarms and transport capabilities for live-fire training, simulation, surveillance and decoy roles. The company’s small- to medium-sized robots sit on a universal robotic platform that supports flexible add-ons and payloads tailored to different security and defence scenarios. ARX positions its robots as consumable solutions for armed forces to train and protect troops, gather intelligence and withstand mission challenges, while offering long-term reliable support for civilian relief efforts. First units are being tested with defence companies and the armed forces of Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Estonia. The company plans to use recent funding to grow the team, advance the technology and scale production capabilities.
