Overview

Ati Motors develops full-stack autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) for material movement in factories and warehouses, including tugging, pallet movers and lifters. The company builds both hardware and software in-house—sensor-fusion algorithms, 3D lidar-based spatial awareness, and a fleet management platform—and relies on Nvidia’s Jetson for edge computing. It has developed seven robot models, two of which are in testing and slated to be available this quarter, and offers robots-as-a-service (RaaS) leasing alongside outright sales. Ati says it has deployed “hundreds” of its Sherpa robots across 40 manufacturers, including Airbus, Ceat Tyres, Forvia, Hyundai, Samsung and TVS Motor; 80% of customers are in the automobile sector and the U.S. dominates revenues. Founded in February 2017, the company operates a manufacturing and R&D facility in Bengaluru and emphasizes durability and interoperability to handle harsh environments and integrate with other mobile-robot fleets. It plans global expansion—notably a North American push in Detroit—to tap rising demand for domestic manufacturing in the U.S., India and Southeast Asia. Ati Motors is an autonomous mobile robot manufacturer led by CEO Saurabh Chandra that develops robots for industrial environments and warehouses. The company focuses on artificial intelligence, computer vision and hardware to optimize productivity across warehousing, logistics and manufacturing. It counts Bosch, TVS Motors, CEAT and Hyundai among its key customers in India and the US. Based in Bengaluru, India and Milpitas, California, Ati targets automation of work in industrial settings. The company raised US$10.85M in Series A financing to expand into the US, Southeast Asia, Japan and Europe and to pursue opportunities in pharmaceuticals, chemicals, maritime and injection molding. Ati will continue investing in research and development to launch new products and capabilities. Ati Motors is a Bengaluru-based company that builds all-electric autonomous industrial vehicles and a full-stack autonomous platform for material movement in industrial environments. Its flagship Sherpa family includes Sherpa Tug, a one-tonne trolley puller deployed in tough manufacturing environments, and Sherpa Lite, used in e-commerce warehouses for order fulfilment. The Sherpa Tug has been successfully deployed at a multinational auto OEM's manufacturing unit in Chennai. Ati Motors plans to use the new capital to manufacture and deploy a large fleet of autonomous vehicles across factories and warehouses in domestic and global markets. The company is receiving enquiries from the US, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East and intends to accelerate its go-to-market plans. Founders are Saurabh Chandra, V Vinay, and Saad Nasser, and the company previously raised seed funding from Village Global.
