Atly offers a web and mobile app where users create theme-specific, community-managed maps of real-world places and manage engagement and permissions. Founded in Israel in 2019 and recently rebranded from Steps, the app emerged from a multi-year open beta. The company says it has more than 120,000 members who have created roughly 6,500 map-centric communities, with most users in the U.S. and particular activity in New York. Atly is not yet generating company-wide revenue, though some creators already monetize by gating access to private maps. The startup plans to roll out community management and monetization tools next quarter, including subscription-based communities to share revenue with creators. The $18M funding will be used to bolster the product as Atly officially launches after its beta period.
