Autonomo builds checkout-free software that enables retailers to convert existing stores into cashierless experiences where customers tap a payment card or phone and are tracked by computer vision. The platform anonymously tracks shoppers, itemises picked products and automatically charges payment when shoppers exit, while providing inventory and behavioural recognition to deter theft and reduce shrinkage. Launched in 2021, Autonomo has proven successful in Germany in petrol stations, convenience and grab-and-go stores. The company says it is on target to automate the largest number of cashierless shops in Western Europe by the end of this year and plans to bring its computer-vision-powered checkout solutions to the UK. Autonomo has raised a total of £3.8 million to date.
