Azalea Therapeutics

2625 Durant Avenue, Berkeley, CA, 94720, United States

Overview

Azalea Therapeutics engineers Enveloped Delivery Vehicles (EDVs) that transport transient CRISPR-Cas9 cargo directly to specific cell types for precise, in-vivo genome editing. Its lead program uses CD19-targeting EDVs and T-cell-tropic AAVs to insert a CAR construct at a defined genomic locus, producing physiologic and sustained CAR-T activity against B-cell malignancies and autoimmune diseases. Additional pipelines include a BCMA-targeted in-vivo CAR-T for multiple myeloma and an undisclosed solid-tumor program, with plans to extend the platform to other cell types. By eliminating ex-vivo manufacturing, Azalea aims to deliver potent, durable and safe therapies conveniently inside patients. Co-founded by Nobel laureate Jennifer Doudna, along with Michael Fischbach, Justin Eyquem and Jenny Hamilton (CEO), the company brings deep expertise in genome engineering, synthetic biology and cell therapy. To date, Azalea has secured $82 million in seed and Series A financing to advance its lead programs through IND-enabling studies and into early clinical trials.
