Bactana Corp.

400 Farmington Ave, Farmington, CT, 06032, United States

Overview

Bactana is a development-stage animal health company developing sustainable products that enhance the microbiome of companion animals and improve efficiency in livestock farming. Its FPS-4™ product platform is initially being developed for companion animals and food animals, and multiple trials have demonstrated increases in yield efficiency, weight gain, and improved gut health. The company aims to reduce the use of antibiotics and hormones in the world’s food supply through microbiome enhancement. Bactana will use its new funding to expand its laboratory at facilities located at the UCONN Health Cell & Genome Science Center, perform additional trials of FPS-4™, hire technical experts, and develop commercial manufacturing capabilities ahead of an initial product launch. Financially, it completed a $1.3M equity financing that included conversion of outstanding convertible debt and accrued interest. The round included investments from Connecticut Innovations, Cornell University, Sustainable Income Capital Management, and other funds and private investors.
