Bactolife is a Danish startup creating a new class of gut-health ingredients called binding proteins that latch onto and flush out harmful bacterial metabolites without disrupting the microbiome. Drawing inspiration from camelid immunoglobulin fragments, the firm engineers microbes via precision fermentation to produce vegan, allergen-free, heat- and pH-stable proteins effective at 100–200 mg doses. Its first two proteins are expected to receive self-affirmed GRAS status in the U.S. in Q1 and will debut this year under the “Helm” brand in dietary supplements and functional foods, with subsequent rollouts planned for Asia and Europe.
