Beem
25 Luke St, Shoreditch, London, United Kingdom
Overview
Beem’s core product is a consumer mobile app that captures a person on video, segments them from the background via proprietary computer‑vision algorithms, and streams a 3D‑like AR “beem” into a recipient’s space for live or pre‑recorded messages. The company soft‑launched its latest app iteration last month and supports one‑to‑one and multi‑viewer two‑way audio telepresence (up to 25 people) as well as one‑to‑many livestreams. Beem previously operated as HoloMe, building AR campaigns and projects for brands such as Vogue, Louis Vuitton, H&M and TEDx while using that work to refine its technology. Usage metrics reported include about 500 messages per day, roughly 14.2 million views of “beems” over the past six weeks, and more than 1,500 AR messages sent over Valentine’s Day. The startup has filed multiple patents on its engine and delivery methods (two have been granted) and says it has a prototype AR‑glasses experience being developed with an undisclosed FAANG company and a major chip supplier. The company acknowledges current friction in the mobile workflow (phone mounting, recording and a brief processing lag) and is positioning the product toward AR glasses as its ideal use case.
