Overview
Beneq develops industrial production and laboratory equipment for nano-scale thin films and functional coatings used across multiple industries. Its equipment supplies thin film coatings for solar photovoltaics, flexible electronics, strengthened glass and other emerging applications. Target applications include transparent conductive oxides (TCO), barriers and passivation layers, LED and OLED, surface strengthening and optical filters. The company is led by CEO Sampo Ahonen and operates as a global supplier of production and research equipment. Beneq recently received a €25m investment from Rusnano provided as a combination of capital injection and share purchase. The funding is intended to enable expansion into existing and emerging markets, including Russia. Beneq Oy supplies production and research equipment for advanced nano-scale thin-film coatings used in solar cells, glass coatings and flexible electronics such as OLED lighting. Its coating applications are based on two nanotechnology platforms: Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) and aerosol coating (nHALO® and nAERO®). The company is currently moving from piloting to industrial production. Founded in 2005 and led by CEO Sampo Ahonen, Beneq employs over 60 people and is headquartered in Vantaa, Finland, with sales offices in Germany, China and the USA. In 2010 the company’s turnover was approximately €10m.
