Overview
BillEase operates a digital consumer finance app that uses machine learning and AI alongside traditional credit underwriting to build financial products. Its offerings include personal loans, e-wallet top-ups, prepaid load, gaming credits, bill payment, and a buy now, pay later (BNPL) product. The BNPL aggregates rates and deals from over 10,000 merchants and supports payments at over 600,000 QRPh-accepting merchants. Led by CEO Georg Steiger (with Huyen Nguyen as COO, Ritche Weekun as Director, and Garret Go as CFO), the company targets underserved and underbanked Filipinos. BillEase intends to use the new funding to expand operations and accelerate product development. The article does not disclose revenue or user metrics. BillEase began as a BNPL platform and has expanded into an inclusive mobile lifestyle application that provides consumer loans and helps build credit history for underserved customers. The company positions itself to serve largely unbanked populations in the Philippines by digitising credit and payments. BillEase plans to expand its consumer loan offerings and introduce tailored credit products to its growing user base. Financially, BillEase reported profitability in 2023 and doubled revenue year‑on‑year. In 2023 it served over 800,000 customers with a reported 47% return on equity, and the company says its user base has now surpassed 1 million. Management expects recent funding to support growth of its loan portfolio and more affordable financial services across the country. BillEase is a Philippines-based buy now, pay later provider operated by First Digital Finance Corporation that launched in 2017. Its platform is available at more than 500 merchants and via payment gateways such as Xendit, Paynamics, 2C2P, Dragonpay and BUX, and it also offers an app with personal loans and digital-wallet top-ups. BillEase differentiates by enabling customers to build formal credit records (it is a TransUnion member and part of the Credit Information Corporation) and by owning its credit, fraud and payments stack. The company says it can approve more than 90% of BNPL loans instantly and typically offers lower interest rates (~3.49%) versus competitors (7–12%). It targets the emerging middle class—largely Gen Z and millennials—about 80% of whom are new to the formal credit system, and it relies on alternative data (telecom, phone metadata, behavioral data) for underwriting. The team continuously refines credit models with A/B tests and product improvements.
