Bimsense provides Operance, a proptech platform for buildings that helps companies comply with the Building Safety Act. Operance is used by organisations such as Campden, Basildon and Harrow and by construction firms including Kier, Higgins, United Living, Vermont and Rider Levett Bucknall. The company plans to use the further £750K in funding to add new features to Operance in response to the latest measures coming into force. Bimsense was founded seven years ago by Ian Yeo and Scott Pilgrim, who specialise in building information modelling (BIM). The company increased turnover by 44% in the financial year ending in August and currently employs 22 staff, with expectations to create six new jobs. Bimsense develops Operance, a mobile-first digital operations and maintenance (O&M) platform that captures building intelligence and supports the 'golden thread' of safety across a building's lifecycle. The company says Operance helps owners and managers demonstrate that safety has been considered from design and construction through to ongoing management. Bimsense plans to use the new funding to build modules that address further requirements of the Building Safety Act, in particular registering high-rise residential buildings (HRBs) and producing safety case reports. Operance was developed in 2020 with initial investment support from NPIF – Mercia Equity Finance. The business was founded in 2016 by Ian Yeo and Scott Pilgrim and is used by customers including GallifordTry, REDS10, Algeco, Morrison Construction and RLB. Bimsense has also won multiple industry awards.
