BinOptics manufactures Fabry-Perot (FP) and Distributed Feedback (DFB) lasers and monolithically integrated photonic components for transceivers and other photonic equipment. The company ships products with modulation speeds up to 10 Gbps and has shipped more than 25 million FP and DFB lasers into high-growth markets such as EPON and GPON. BinOptics uses proprietary, patented manufacturing processes to produce low-cost, integrated laser devices and also offers custom integrated components that reduce cost, size, and power by replacing discrete components with a monolithic chip. The company employs over 50 people and plans to hire additional engineers and technicians in 2012. To support product-line expansion and accelerate development of new products and materials, BinOptics closed a new funding round in which both new and existing investors participated.
