Overview
Bisu has developed Bisu Body Coach, a portable home health lab that uses disposable microfluidic test sticks and a reader that syncs with a smartphone app to measure multiple biomarkers in about two minutes. The device uses lab-on-a-chip spectrometry and real-time end-to-end measurement to avoid timing issues of conventional test strips and can manipulate samples such as urine and saliva. Its app delivers personalized recommendations on hydration, minerals, vitamins, pH, uric acid and ketones based on goals, activity, sleep and weight. Bisu differentiates itself by enabling simultaneous testing of multiple biomarkers for non-patient consumers to make lifestyle and nutrition changes without seeing a doctor. The company is beta testing in the U.S. and EU with plans to commercialize in those markets in 2022 and enter Japan and Korea in 2023; it also plans to add zinc and vitamin B measurements and a pet health test kit. Financially, Bisu recently raised a $3.2M seed round, bringing total funding to $4.3M.
