Brayola

20 W 33rd St. Fl 3, New York, 10001, United States

Overview

Brayola's core product is a data-driven recommendation engine that lets users submit a bra they love (brand and size) and returns suggestions for other bras that fit the same way. The company has integrated with more than 100 brands and offers over 1 million SKUs, working directly with distribution warehouses so items arrive in Brayola packaging. Brayola purchases individual bras at wholesale prices rather than stocking large inventories. Founder Orit Hashay reports a sub-10% return rate on bras sold through the platform, versus roughly 30% returns through traditional channels. The company hit a $10 million revenue run rate by the end of 2016 and Hashay expects a $27 million run rate through this year. Brayola has not spent heavily on marketing to date; a significant portion of the new funding will be used to build brand awareness. Brayola enables women to find the right-fitting bra by having users upload photos of themselves wearing a favorite bra, which are crowd-voted (faces excluded) and finalized by a "bra expert." Users can also enter make, model, and size to get automated suggestions for other bras. The company has launched a marketplace that leverages inventory from brand partners so customers can purchase recommended items directly on the Brayola website. Founder and CEO Orit Hashay told TechCrunch Brayola's conversion rate is around 5.5%, which the company says is almost as high as Amazon Prime. Brayola reports a return rate below 8%. The company recently closed a $2.5 million Series A round to support its product and marketplace growth. Brayola guides users through creating a personal "Brayola drawer" of bras they already own and love, then matches those selections to other users with the same bras and sizes. The site uses its bra fitter technology — a recommendation algorithm — to suggest new bras based on the preferences of similar women. Brayola aggregates bras from multiple e-commerce retailers, including Macy’s and Amazon, and currently directs purchases through those retailers' sites. The company says that in the future users will be able to buy directly through Brayola. Founder Orit Hashay is named in the article. Brayola has received seed funding from investors Roi Mor and Shahar Smirin.
