Overview
Founded in 2025 by former robotics engineers from NASA and ETH Zürich, Bubble Robotics is developing a fleet of resident autonomous robotic systems designed to operate continuously at sea for extended periods without human intervention. The company applies advances in robotics, edge AI, and satellite connectivity to enable persistent inspection, environmental monitoring, and maritime security. It plans to commercialize through a robotics-as-a-service model, allowing operators to reduce upfront capital expenditure and the high daily costs associated with vessel-based missions. Bubble Robotics argues its approach can dramatically lower inspection costs by removing dependence on vessels and crews, which the company says account for roughly 80–90% of offshore inspection costs. The startup draws inspiration from satellite constellations and aims to build a distributed network of autonomous systems to deliver high-frequency underwater data for more efficient ocean management. Financially, the company has just completed a $5M pre-seed round to fund technology development and initial deployments.
