Overview
Captio provides a business travel and expense management solution that integrates the expense management process into a single, paperless workflow. The platform eliminates manual tasks and helps prevent fraud, offering features including expense entry, classification, mobility, efficiency, supervision and administration. Led by CEO Joel Vicient, Captio aims to help companies and their employees improve control of their expenses and discover new savings opportunities. The company serves clients such as BBVA, Bankiter, Cofidis, Ricoh, Makro, Toyota, Manpower and others. Captio raised €1m in funding and intends to use the funds to continue to expand operations. Captio is Spain's first platform for managing corporate expenses, offering a solution that digitizes expense receipts and extracts their data via smartphones to automate expense-report creation and supervision. The product targets companies with large volumes of business travel, promising automation, cost savings, greater control and improved productivity. The firm notes that upcoming VAT rules (effective 2017) will make digital reporting more important, a requirement its platform is well suited to address. Captio reported strong commercial traction in 2014, multiplying its number of users by five and consolidating its leadership in the sector. To support international expansion and strategic projects, the company planned to double its headcount during 2015. Historically it has also received several participative loans from public institutions to back growth. Captio builds a mobile application that automates corporate travel-expense management by extracting data from photos of receipts. It sells the product under a SaaS model and collects revenue via monthly subscription fees from customers. Notable clients include Bodegas Torres, Telefónica, Petronas and Bankinter. The company reported €500,000 in revenue in the prior year and projects to multiply that to €2 million in the current year. Captio was founded in 2009 and operates commercial headquarters in Barcelona, a technical office in Tortosa (Baix Ebre) and has representation in Madrid. The team counted 16 employees at the time of the report and the company planned to finish the year with 25 staff. Captio is a Barcelona, Spain-based provider of an enterprise mobile platform for managing receipts. Its apps for iPhone, Android and BlackBerry let users photograph receipts, automatically extract data, store it for analysis and generate expense claims. The platform is used by clients including Telefónica, FIATC, Halcón Viajes, Zyncro and SQM. Captio raised €300K in funding to support continued expansion in Spain and initial international growth into Mexico. Backers on the round included Venturcap and angel investors. The company is using the capital to continue product deployment and market expansion.
