Overview
CaTe is a Japanese medical-device startup building a remote cardiac rehabilitation system designed to let heart-disease patients perform clinically validated rehab programs from home. By addressing the low participation rates of conventional, hospital-based cardiac rehab, the company aims to cut mortality and readmission rates for the country’s second-leading cause of death. CaTe holds a second-class medical-device manufacturing and sales license and is moving quickly toward full social implementation of its technology. The firm will apply newly raised capital to accelerate R&D and the regulatory path for its cardiac rehab equipment. Since its 2020 founding, CaTe has accumulated ¥2.35 billion in equity financing and received ¥0.19 billion in research grants, giving it ¥2.54 billion in total funding available for product development. Management espouses the vision of creating a society in which “Exercise is Medicine” and plans to sustain rapid growth to achieve this goal.
