CelluComp, founded in 2004, uses a proprietary technology to extract nano-cellulose fibres from the waste streams of root vegetables to produce its product Curran. Curran is positioned as a high-performance, environmentally sound and economically viable solution for rheology (thickening) and reinforcement. The product targets multiple industries, including paints & coatings, home and personal care, concrete, oil drilling and composites. The company is in the process of scaling up production and commercialising Curran globally. To support that effort, CelluComp has closed a £2.4 million funding round. The financing and the accompanying expertise are intended to accelerate the company’s commercial rollout.
