Overview

Ceradis is a Dutch biotech company that develops environmentally friendly plant nutrition and crop protection products. The team spent more than a decade developing a line of biologicals and now markets 13 product variations through distribution partners. Its offerings are entrapment solutions that slow the release of active ingredients so farmers can reduce chemical application rates rather than fully replace chemicals. Ceradis’ new biofungicide CeraMax is derived from a bacteria molecule, targets only fungi, has a long shelf life, and is expected to be tolerance-exempt under the U.S. EPA. With fresh funding, the company plans to develop and register crop-specific formulations of CeraMax in the U.S., initially targeting high-value applications like seed and post-harvest treatment before pursuing mass-market use. The company launched in 2007 out of Wageningen University, focuses on R&D and intellectual property, and distributes products through partners including Syngenta and Dole. Ceradis is a Wageningen University spin-off based in Wageningen, the Netherlands, that develops patented fungicides for a broad range of fruit and vegetable crops. Its products are applicable to crops including potato, tomato, grape, banana and pineapple. The company’s fungicides are designed to reduce chemical residues. Ceradis is led by Wim van der Krieken (CEO and Chief Scientist), Desiree Engelen (COO and Regulatory Affairs/IP) and Johan Grootscholten (Sales & Marketing manager NA & EMEA). The company raised funding to accelerate its growth and expansion efforts. The financing and product focus aim to support commercialization and market adoption in NA and EMEA.
